Welcome to the Contextual Analysis and Situational Assessment (CASA) Lab!
Our research examines how employee behavior is influenced by aspects of work context as well as by individuals’ personality — that is, how different types of people react in predictably unique ways to various types of work environments. To help facilitate this goal, one of our main foci is to improve Psychology’s understanding the structure of situations, with a particular emphasis on the concept of “situational strength,” which can be thought of as the extent to which a given situation puts pressure on the individual to behave in a specific way. We then use this improved understanding of situational strength to help us predict outcomes associated with job performance, employee attitudes, and work stress/wellbeing.
